God's View of Memorization and Meditation
by Tim Weadon (guest author) on March 31, 2022Over the past few weeks, I have presented my convictions on memorization and meditation. The following are verses, unedited and without commentary, which admonish us to hide God’s words in our hearts and draw near to Him.
Psalm 119:106 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path, (KJV).
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord, (KJV).
Deut. 6:6-8 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes, (KJV).
Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope, (KJV).
Eph 6:17 The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, (KJV).
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success, (KJV).
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God, (KJV).
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer, (KJV).
Psalm 19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward, (KJV).
James 4:8 Draw near unto God and he will draw near unto you, (ESV).
