What Would You Like to See God Do In 2020?
by Duane Mabee on January 2, 2020What would you like to see God do in 2020? As we have crossed over into a new year, we often make plans for what we would like to do or change in our own lives. Depending on our level of commitment, those planned changes can make a big difference in our lives – or they can fall by the wayside within a couple of weeks.
Here’s what I would like to see God do in our congregation, our families and our community. It can best be expressed through the prophecy God gave to Israel through the prophet Ezekiel.
“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes and be careful to obey My rules,” (Ezek. 36:25-28 ESV). God told Israel: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of My holy Name, (Ezek. 36:22 ESV).
In 2020, I want to see God do these things among us for the glory of His Name. I want to see the Spirit of God cleansing people; forgiving them and setting them free. I want to see the idols that are keeping people away from God, fall and crumble. I want to see hard hearts broken and replaced with soft hearts that are filled with life and the Holy Spirit. I want to see non-believers saved and believers walking more fully and consistently in obedience to Christ.
These are the things I’m asking God to do in us, for us and through us in 2020. When He does, it will truly be a happy New Year. Would you join me in consistently asking God to do these things?
Happy New Year!
