It's Gonna be OK

by Duane Mabee on September 23, 2020

I saw a face mask the other day that sums up how I feel.  It said: “I’m 2020% over this year.”  I’ve told a couple of people about that and they reacted the same way I did.  “That is SO how I feel!”

Just when it seems this year couldn’t get any worse, something happens to prove that it can.  It’s wearing on a lot of us.  Be encouraged, though.  God is still in control and He knows what He is doing.  He has a reason for everything He has allowed to happen, and He will use it for our ultimate good and His glory, no matter how things appear in the short run.

The words of an old song have been reverberating in my mind for several days now, though I haven’t heard the song in years.  The artist first comments on how she feels, and then reminds herself – and us – that because God is with us, “It’s gonna be OK”.  God is with us and it really is going to be OK.

My heart is breaking – in a way I never thought it could

My mind is racing – With the question, “Are you still good?”

…From beginning to the end – You’re so close

You have never let me down – And You won’t

In the valleys, in the shadows, I know

You’re so close; You’re so close

Though the mountains may be moved into the sea

Though the ground beneath might crumble and give way

I can hear my Father singing over me

“It’s gonna be okay, it’s gonna be okay”

“It’s gonna be okay, it’s gonna be okay”
